FOR AMAZON SELLERS

← Amazon FBA vs FBM calculator

See whether keeping aged inventory still beats a removal.

Leftover FBA units already cost you the inbound and the goods. What is still incremental is storage, the aged-inventory surcharge, and whether they actually sell. The table keeps the same pile, then compares keeping them, paying to send them back, and paying to dispose.

Path Cash over horizon Left sitting vs keep

Cost of goods and inbound are already spent. The table only adds storage, the surcharge you type, expected sales at the typed sell-through, and the removal fee. Transparent arithmetic from your inputs — not Amazon aged-inventory policy or a removal-order rate card.

A different question: hold until they sell, or remove now?

The table above spreads sell-through over a horizon and charges a flat per-unit surcharge every leftover month. This second check assumes the remaining units sell after a typed number of months, and only bills the aged-inventory surcharge for months after the threshold you type. Salvage is what you recover if you pull them (liquidation, FBM, or $0).

What this checks

Sellers search “should I remove aged Amazon inventory” because a leftover pile looks free next to a new PO. Twenty-nine ninety-nine list still leaves about $21.34 after referral and the pick fee once cost is sunk. Eighty units at 5% a month only sell 11.41 of them in three months. The other 68.59 keep paying storage and the surcharge.

On the defaults — $29.99, 15% referral, $4.15 pick, $0.87 / cu ft off-peak storage, 8 × 6 × 2 in, 80 leftover units, 5% monthly sell-through, $1.50 aged-inventory surcharge, $1.04 return, $0.32 dispose, 3 months — keeping is −$109.82. A return removal is −$83.20. Disposing is −$25.60. Keeping loses $84.22 more than disposing. Carrying fees total $353.33. Keeping needs about 6.7% monthly sell-through, or a surcharge at or below about $1.13, to match dispose.

It does not tell you to create a removal order, and it is not tax or financial advice. Q4 storage is a seasonal rate on the same cubic foot — not this age surcharge. Restocking versus Amazon’s low-inventory fee is a quantity question: Does restocking beat the low-inventory-level fee? Vine gifts units; this page prices units that already sit. Is Amazon Vine worth it? A 3PL leftover-storage quote is a different warehouse. FBA Liquidations is the recovery on that same leftover pile: Amazon pays a percent of list, or you pull the units and sell them elsewhere. Should I liquidate aged FBA inventory? The main Amazon FBA vs FBM calculator still compares fulfillment paths and seller plans.

Common questions

Should I remove aged Amazon FBA inventory?

On the calculator defaults ($29.99, 15% referral, $4.15 pick, 80 leftover units, 5% monthly sell-through, $1.50 aged-inventory surcharge) keeping over 3 months is −$109.82. A return removal is −$83.20. Disposing is −$25.60. Keeping loses $84.22 more than disposing. Keeping needs about 6.7% monthly sell-through to match dispose. That is arithmetic on your inputs, not advice to create a removal order.

Does Amazon charge aged inventory surcharge on leftover FBA units?

Amazon can add an aged-inventory surcharge on units that have sat past an age band. The amount is a line on your fee preview, not a published live schedule this page fetches. Type the per-unit monthly surcharge from that preview. Storage still sits on top.

Is disposing leftover FBA cheaper than a return removal?

A dispose order is usually a cheaper per-unit fee because the units do not come back. Cost of goods is already sunk — both paths spend a fee, and only a return gives you the units. Q4 storage is a different question: that is a seasonal rate, not an age surcharge.
