Should I use Amazon Remote Fulfillment?

Sellers search this after a US FBA pile is already sitting and Amazon offers Remote Fulfillment with North America. Skipping Canada leaves that demand on the table. Remote Fulfillment ships the US unit across the border for a surcharge. A dedicated Canada pile buys local Prime take — and a second inbound. The main calculator’s inbound / unit line is a blended US number, so it cannot show whether the remote fee is cheaper than a first CA shipment.

On the default $29.99 large-standard unit already in US FBA, Remote Fulfillment keeps $5.12 more per Canada session than skipping ($5.12 vs $0.00), $204.86 on 40 sessions. The $1.25 remote surcharge on a unit you already inbounded still beats a $5.20 first Canada inbound even though local Prime converts 65% against Remote Fulfillment’s 50%. A dedicated Canada pile is $4.87, $0.25 behind. The remote fee can rise to about $1.75 before the pile matches. A $2.40 Canada inbound flips the pile ahead by $1.57 ($6.69 vs $5.12).

Path Take Completed Expected Monthly vs skip

Expected leftover is take% × completed-sale profit. Remote Fulfillment uses the US FBA leftover minus the surcharge; US inbound is already sunk. A Canada pile replaces that inbound with the CA line. Return mix is held at zero so this table stays a Canada-expansion question. Complementary to Amazon AWD (where a fresh US PO parks), to inbound placement (which US FC), to MCF (a website order from FBA stock), and to Seller Fulfilled Prime (a US Prime badge). Paste the remote surcharge, Canada inbound, and take rates from your current fee previews. This page does not publish Amazon’s live Remote Fulfillment schedule.

The calculator is arithmetic, not advice. It does not recommend Remote Fulfillment, sending a Canada pile, or skipping Canada.

Common questions

Should I use Amazon Remote Fulfillment or send inventory to Canada?

On the calculator defaults — a $29.99 large-standard unit already in US FBA, 15% referral, $4.15 pick, $8 cost of goods, $1.25 remote surcharge, $5.20 first Canada inbound, 50% Remote Fulfillment take and 65% local Prime take — Remote Fulfillment keeps $5.12 more per Canada session than skipping ($5.12 vs $0.00), $204.86 on 40 sessions. A dedicated Canada pile is $4.87, $0.25 behind, because the first CA inbound is expensive per unit. The remote fee can rise to about $1.75 before the Canada pile matches. A $2.40 Canada inbound flips the pile ahead by $1.57.

Is Remote Fulfillment the same as Amazon AWD or inbound placement?

No. AWD is where a fresh US purchase order parks before it replenishes FBA. Inbound placement is which US fulfillment centers a shipment goes to. Remote Fulfillment is whether Canada or Mexico demand uses the US pile you already sent, for a per-unit surcharge, or whether you send a second pile across the border. This page holds US placement at the listing inbound line so the table stays a Canada-expansion question. It does not recommend Remote Fulfillment and it does not publish Amazon's live NARF schedule.

When does a dedicated Canada pile beat Remote Fulfillment?

When Canada inbound plus the slower Remote Fulfillment take costs more than sending working stock for local Prime. On these defaults a $2.40 Canada inbound flips the pile ahead by $1.57 per session ($6.69 vs $5.12). Matched take rates usually favor whichever inbound is cheaper.
