FOR INDEPENDENT PROPANE (LP GAS) DELIVERY ROUTE OPERATORS
Gallons delivered isn't profit. Margin per customer is.
A customer who "took 850 gallons this year" can still be barely worth the trip once the small-fill trips, tank rental, and hazmat compliance cost come out of the retail/wholesale spread. This free calculator finds real annual and monthly profit for one customer, then rolls your whole route up into a number you can check against your income goal.
Wondering whether a low-volume or small-fill customer is still worth keeping on the route? See is a small propane customer worth keeping? for a worked example of a minimum-delivery fee turning a losing account profitable. Tracking margins in a spreadsheet today instead? This is a planning floor from the numbers you typed, not an audited statement. It does not add fuel-price hedging, seasonal degree-day swings, delivery insurance, or bad-debt risk unless you fold those into your price spread or target rate yourself. It never sizes a tank, forecasts usage, or judges a safe fill level — that stays with your own licensed propane supply and delivery-scheduling judgment.

Everything on this page runs in your browser and nothing is ever uploaded. Your customer inputs (annual gallons, fill size, price spread, minimum-delivery terms, drive time and mileage, tank rental and hazmat cost) and your target monthly income are saved locally on this device so you don't retype them next time — Reset to defaults clears them, and Copy shareable link puts them in a URL fragment your browser never sends anywhere. Your customer rows in the route table are a different promise: they are never saved anywhere, and closing or refreshing the tab clears them. There is no account. We count only anonymous local feature events (customer-priced, route-check, link-copied, reset) so we can tell whether the calculator gets used — no customers, prices, or gallon counts are recorded, and Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control turn it off automatically.
Common questions
Why does average fill size matter as much as annual gallons?
Because your annual gallon volume tells you the fuel margin, but the average fill size decides how many separate truck trips it takes to deliver that volume. A customer who takes the same annual gallons in fewer, larger fills costs you far less in drive time and mileage than one who takes it in many small top-offs — and a small enough average fill can also trigger a minimum-delivery fee, if you charge one.
Why is tank rental a fixed cost instead of something charged per gallon?
Because that is how most company-owned tank placements actually work — you carry the tank's lease or amortized cost every month whether the customer takes one delivery a year or four. This calculator applies it as a flat monthly cost so it shows up next to the fuel margin it makes possible, rather than being folded invisibly into the price per gallon.
Does this tool tell me how much propane a tank needs or when a customer will run out?
No. This calculator only prices the route economics of a delivery you have already scheduled, from numbers you supply. It does not size a tank, forecast degree-day usage, determine a safe fill level, or replace your own licensed propane supplier's delivery-scheduling and safety judgment.
Does anything about my customers or pricing get uploaded?
No. Every field on this page runs in your browser only. Nothing is sent to a server, there is no account, and the customer list you type into the route section is never saved anywhere — it exists only in the page while it is open. The customer inputs above and the target monthly income setting are different: those are saved locally on this device, so you don't retype them, and a shareable link can carry them to another device. Usage counting only tallies anonymous feature events, and you can turn it off with the button above.
