What it does and does not do
- Maths in whole cents. Line amounts, a discount applied before tax, a tax rate on the taxable lines, shipping and a deposit; the balance due is what is printed.
- Overdue tracking. An invoice marked sent turns overdue the day after its due date; unpaid balances are aged from the due date.
- Not modelled: multiple tax rates on one invoice, VAT reverse-charge wording, e-invoicing formats (see the e-invoice preflight check), recurring invoices, online card payment, and any rule about which late fee is legal where you work.
Common questions
Is this invoice generator really free?
Yes. There is no watermark, no invoice limit, no account and no trial. It runs in your browser, so it costs nothing to serve, and it stays free.
Where are my invoices stored?
In your browser on this device only. Clearing site data removes them, so use Download backup now and then; the file restores on any device. Nothing is uploaded.
How do I get a PDF?
Press Print / Save as PDF and choose Save as PDF as the destination. Only the invoice is printed, not the editor.
What should an invoice include so it gets paid?
A unique invoice number, your business name and contact details, the client's name, the issue date and due date, itemised services with quantities and rates, any tax, the total due and exactly how to pay you. The built-in check lists what is missing.
Can it add sales tax, discounts and late fees?
Yes. Apply one tax rate to taxable lines, mark individual lines non-taxable, add a percentage or flat discount (applied before tax), a deposit already paid, and a late-fee clause printed in the terms. It does not decide which tax rate or late-fee cap applies to you.
Does it track who has not paid?
Yes. Mark an invoice as sent and it turns overdue after its due date. The receivables panel ages unpaid balances (current, 1-30, 31-60, 61-90 and 90+ days) and totals them by client.
Is this legal, tax or accounting advice?
No. It formats the numbers you enter. Tax rates, e-invoicing mandates, late-fee limits and record-keeping rules depend on your location and business.
