Job application tracker vs. a spreadsheet
If you already keep a spreadsheet and it works, keep it. This page is for when it stops working: the follow-up dates live in your head, and you cannot tell which job board is worth your time.
| Spreadsheet | This tracker | |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Build columns and formulas | Open the page |
| Today's follow-ups | A formula and a filter you maintain | Shown at the top, most overdue first |
| Silent for a month | Manual | Flagged, you decide whether to close it |
| Reply rate by source | Pivot table | Built in, with sample-size caveat |
| Reminders | Your calendar, by hand | Download a .ics with every pending follow-up |
| Sharing / editing anywhere | Strong: cloud sheets sync across devices | Weak: data lives in one browser, export to move it |
| Privacy | Depends where the sheet lives | Never leaves your browser |
Moving over
Export the sheet as CSV with headers company, role, source, link, salary, status, applied, followUp, notes (dates as YYYY-MM-DD), then import it. Unknown columns are ignored and duplicates are skipped.
