The TCGplayer $0.30 fee, and why order size decides your margin

TCGplayer's marketplace takes a 10.75% commission on the order subtotal (cards plus shipping the buyer pays) and a transaction fee of 2.5% of the order total plus a flat $0.30. The $0.30 is charged once per order, which makes the effective rate depend heavily on how many cards the buyer puts in the cart. The figures below are the same arithmetic the TCGplayer fee calculator runs; the rates are those on TCGplayer's published fee table as of its 10 February 2026 change.

No buyer-paid shipping and no sales tax in these rows; postage and supplies are not deducted. Adding shipping raises the base, and tax raises the 2.5% charge, by a little.

What to do with it

If you sell many cheap singles, the price of any one card barely moves your margin; getting buyers to fill the cart does. Bulk and playset listings, a minimum-order note, and pricing the $1 cards so a typical cart clears a few dollars all work on the $0.30. At the other end, the $75 per-product cap makes expensive cards cheaper to sell as a percentage: a $1,000 card pays 10.0% all in.

The TCGplayer fee calculator runs this on your own card price, quantity, buyer shipping, tax, postage and supplies, and solves for the card price that hits a profit target. Nothing you type leaves your browser. Ranking channels for the same card? Open the where-to-sell calculator.

Common questions

What is the TCGplayer $0.30 fee?

The flat part of TCGplayer's transaction fee: 2.5% of the order total plus $0.30, charged once per order. A one-card $5.00 order pays $0.43 in transaction fees, but a five-card $25.00 order pays $0.93, only $0.50 more.

What is the cheapest card worth selling on TCGplayer?

It depends on the order, not the card. A single $1.00 card with no buyer-paid shipping keeps $0.57; if your postage is higher than that, it loses money on its own. The same card in a 20-card cart keeps $0.85 each. Selling low-value singles only pays when buyers combine them into bigger orders.

Should I charge for shipping on TCGplayer?

Shipping the buyer pays is inside the commission base, so TCGplayer takes 10.75% of it plus 2.5%. On $1.31 of shipping that is about $0.17. Charging it is almost always better than absorbing postage, but it is not free money: only about 86.8 cents of each dollar of shipping reaches you.
