What it does, and what it leaves to you
- Covers: the qualifying week (15th week before the expected week), the 26-week continuous employment test, the lower earnings limit, the 39-week SMP schedule with the April uprating applied week by week, and the 2-week SPP amount.
- Gives: an eligibility verdict, weekly and total pay, and a text file you can keep with the payroll record.
- Not decided: how average weekly earnings are built from the 8-week period (bonuses, back-pay, pay rises), notice and evidence rules, adoption and shared parental pay, contractual schemes, Maternity Allowance, and leave rights. Your payroll provider or HMRC decides these.
