USED CAR LOT AGING PLANNER · RUNS IN YOUR BROWSER

Which aged units should you wholesale today, and when should the rest go?

"Wait until it sells" quietly pays floorplan interest, curtailments and lot costs on units that are worth less every week. Paste your inventory — days on lot, total cost, floored amount, expected retail and wholesale values and how fast each falls — and get each unit's true carrying cost to date and per day, the exact best day to wholesale it under your own numbers, which units to wholesale now, ranked by what they earn per $1,000 of floorplan line per day, and the dollars a wait-until-it-sells policy leaves behind.

For independent used-car dealers with 1 to 60 units on a floorplan line. Nothing is uploaded: the text box is analysed in this browser and never leaves your device.

Prefer a CLI?

Same logic, zero dependencies, one command — reads a file or stdin:

node cli.mjs plan lot.csv --apr 9 --cash-rate 6 --max-age 180 --curtail 90:10,120:10,150:10
cat lot.csv | node cli.mjs plan - --line-value 2 --json

Get cli.mjs and engine.mjs — Node 18+, nothing to install, no network call. More: When should a used car dealer wholesale an aged unit? Floorplan and price-drop math.

What's recognised

InputHandling

The wholesale day is exact for the numbers you type. Prices fall in a straight line at the rates you give, and the chance of a retail sale is the same every day; seasonality, a price cut that speeds a sale up, reconditioning still to do, trade-in and F&I income, and your lender's own fees and audit rules are not modelled. The ranking is a way to see where line earns least, not an instruction.

Common questions

Does it upload my inventory?

No. The browser page works on the text you paste, in your own browser, and never sends it anywhere. The CLI reads a local file or stdin and makes no network call.

How is the wholesale day found?

While a unit is unsold the only thing that changes is its age, so every plan is 'retail until day T, then wholesale'. The tool works backwards from your floorplan limit one day at a time and finds the best T exactly for the numbers you give; the tests compare it with computing every T directly.

What is the true carrying cost of a unit?

Floorplan interest on the balance still owed, what your own cash in the unit (equity plus curtailments paid) could earn elsewhere, and the daily holding cost you enter for insurance, lot space and upkeep, added up day by day from the day it arrived.

Why rank by dollars per $1,000 of line per day?

A floorplan line is the scarce thing on a small lot. A unit that adds $600 over wholesale but ties up $16,000 of line for four months earns less per dollar of line than a fresh unit would. The ranking shows where line is earning the least, so you know which units to move first when you need room to buy.

Who is it for?

Independent used-car dealers with roughly 1 to 60 units on a floorplan line, deciding which aged units to keep retailing and which to send to auction or a wholesaler.
