Common questions

How much of my self-employed income should I set aside for tax in Ireland?

Often 20% to 30% of profit once you add income tax, USC and PRSI, but it depends on your profit. Enter your income and expenses here for a number built from the actual rates.

What is Class S PRSI?

The social insurance contribution paid by self-employed people, 4.2% of income with a minimum of €500 a year, collected through your Form 11 return.

When is preliminary tax due?

Self-assessed taxpayers pay preliminary tax and file Form 11 by 31 October, extended to mid-November when filing and paying through ROS.

When must I register for VAT?

Generally when turnover from services exceeds €42,500 in a 12-month period (€85,000 for goods). VAT you collect belongs to Revenue, so keep it out of your set-aside.

Is my data uploaded anywhere?
