Put one 90-day window through Kindle Direct Publishing paid sales, Kindle Unlimited page reads,
a KDP paperback, and the same book sold on other stores plus Ingram. The page reports the two
totals. It does not tell you to enroll or leave KDP Select.
70% / 35%, the $2.99–$9.99 70% band, delivery per MB, and 60% paperback minus print
are starting points from Amazon's published KDP royalty help, not a live schedule.

KU page-reads that would match the wide extras
Exclusive is paid KDP ebooks + KU + KDP paperbacks. Wide is the same paid KDP ebooks
and KDP paperbacks, plus other-store ebooks and Ingram paperbacks, and no KU.
The two paths share the KDP paid-sale count on purpose: the decision this page
prices is the KU window versus the wide extras, not a forecast of how visibility changes.

Common questions
How many Kindle Unlimited page reads equal one paid sale?
On the starting example — a $4.99 ebook on the 70% plan with a 2 MB file and
$0.15/MB delivery — one paid sale nets $3.193. At a $0.0045 KENP rate that is
709.6 Kindle Edition Normalized Pages. Your own list price, file size, plan, and
this month's KENP rate change that number; the readout updates as you type.
Does this tell me to enroll in KDP Select?
No. It reports two 90-day totals on the numbers you typed. Enrolling, leaving, or
staying in KDP Select is a contract decision you make against Amazon's current
terms, not a recommendation this page can make.
Why can the paperback line go negative?
KDP paperback royalty is a share of list minus printing cost. A short book on a
low list can have a print cost larger than that share. The page shows the negative
rather than hiding it, because that is the arithmetic Amazon's own print preview
is warning you about.
Is the print-cost formula the same as KDP's live preview?
No. The blank-override starting formula is a published-shape approximation
(a small fixed amount plus a per-page rate, B&W or color) so the page has a
number before you paste one. KDP's own print preview, for your trim, paper,
ink, and marketplace, is the figure to paste into the override box.
What is left out?
Expanded distribution, hardcover, audiobook, VAT, currency conversion, ads,
returns, and any change in paid-sale volume from being in or out of KU.
Those are real, and they are not in this arithmetic. A later line can add
them; inventing them here would be a forecast wearing a calculator's clothes.
